Troy Cochrane

Troy has a background in secondary and primary school teaching, personal training, surf life saving, hiking and guiding. He has called the Mornington Peninsula home for the last 20 years.

Troy’s interest in travel and discovering new places started at Newcastle University where the science degree he was completing offered the best field trips to NSW, Queensland and Tasmania.

A mixture of science, maths and physical education teaching took him on a trip around Australia and provided opportunities to work in Darwin, Perth and NSW, before he eventually settled in Mornington. He combined work with his love of surf life saving and hockey, which allowed him to compete and coach all around the country, and discover fantastic beaches, towns and friends along the way. This sporting background also helped him gain a long running position as a personal trainer.

After meeting his wife in Darwin, Troy extended his family to 3 children and has since enjoyed many family camping trips. With most of Australia covered, he ventured to Spain and Portugal, a holiday that included hiking in Madeira and the Picos de Europa and Torla-Ordesa national parks. Since returning, Troy has continued to learn Spanish, albeit slowly!

As well as looking after the operations for our European Alps trips, Troy is a trip leader for our Mornington Peninsula walks. He loves showcasing the region’s natural highlights, wineries and eateries, and looks forward to showing your around his neighbourhood when you visit.
