Laura Melani
Laura is a Japan Specialist at RAW Travel whose love of travel began with a solo trip to Canada, where she discovered the friendships and experiences that come with travelling independently. Her travels have since taken her backpacking across Western Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, and New Zealand, as well as living and working in Canada, France and Japan.
After multiple trips to Japan, Laura made the move there in 2023, spending a year and a half living and working in the country before returning to Australia in 2025. She is a keen skier, with a particular love of Japan’s powder, and enjoys spending time in the mountains – especially a sunrise hike.
Outside of work, Laura has a background in design, a passion for photography, and is always looking toward her next trip. She enjoys the creative side of travel, from finding interesting places to stay and experiences to enjoy, to capturing the character of a destination through photos.
For Laura, the best travel experiences are often found in the details; a great local recommendation, a memorable walk, a beautiful view, or the people you meet along the way. She enjoys bringing together her practical experience, creativity, and love of travel to help others make the most of their time away.
