Sam is our marketing specialist and brings extensive communications expertise and creative ideas to RAW Travel. She has worked for commercial, government and not-for-profit organisations, including Lonely Planet, VicHealth and Australian Volunteers International.
Sam grew up in the picturesque village of North Queensferry on the southern end of the popular Fife Coastal Path, one of Scotland’s Great Trails. Migrating to Australia as a young teenager was the catalyst for her wanderlust, which she has tried to satisfy ever since.
Having travelled extensively in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe, her adventure travel highlights include observing African wildlife in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater, living on a kibbutz in Israel’s Negev Desert, exploring the epic temples of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, hiking through the thrilling Todra Gorge in Southern Morocco, and plunging into the icy waters at the Arctic Circle.
Sam loves a challenge. She completed the 100km Oxfam Trailwalker in 2015 and has twice participated in the MS 24-Hour Mega Swim. She has also completed lots of charity runs and open-water swims.
Sam laced up her hiking boots this year for the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek (3210m), one of Nepal’s most popular short treks. Her bucket list is long and includes visiting the legendary city of Timbuktu in Mali; gorilla trekking in Uganda; hiking the coastal trails of Italy’s Cinque Terre; and joining an expedition through Nepal’s remote Upper Mustang region.
