Trip Leader (Australia)

Nicola Hughes

Nicola grew up in a tiny village in sleepy North Wales dreaming of all the wonders of the world. To live her dream she left to study in the ‘big smoke’ and then started work in the travel industry, visiting many European countries for both work and pleasure. After spending many years backpacking (trekking through Africa, Asia and Australasia) she started her next biggest adventure – having kids. A love of the Australian way of life and a passion for adventure travel lured Nicola back.

Nicola has worked for RAW for many years in various roles. Some of Nicola’s favourite travel experiences include trekking to see the gorillas in Zaire, exploring the underwater world of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef while working on the dive boats, hiking the Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand, rafting the mighty Zambezi, and trekking the amazing Pilgrims Way on the coastline of her childhood home, the Llyn Peninsula.
