Mark Walters
Mark is RAW Travel’s General Manager. From his late teens until today, Mark has been passionate about extended walks in wild places. The son of expat parents, Mark’s first forays were around South East Asia as a teenager, in particular Borneo where he spent some time in the longhouse villages of former headhunters. It was from here that his passion and curiosity for the outdoors, different people and different places grew.
After school, Mark pursued the outdoors as a career, firstly in outdoor education running trips across Australia before joining an international tour provider as a leader. During this time he lead walking trips in a range of places in Australia and overseas including Wales, Morocco, Peru, Mongolia and back in Borneo to name a few.
Over the journey, Mark has held a range of executive roles in the outdoor and travel industries including as head of market for a school expedition company. During this time he has always managed to stay connected with the outdoors and has taken the time to grow his list of personal walks in Australia including the Overland Track and Western Arthurs in Tasmania and the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, as well as regular overseas forays.
Mark is about family first and notes his biggest and best adventure as being a husband and a father to two adult daughters.
