Welcome to Australia
Our favourite walks and cycles in Australia range from biking the verdant Daintree rainforest and Cape York to the spectacular desert walks along the Larapinta trail in central Australia and the amazing views along the Great Ocean walk, Victoria.
Australia is home to many natural wonders so we've picked out a few of our favourite adventures in areas that offer great scenic variety. For cyclists we have chosen a ride through the tropical north: The Daintree and Cape York offer one of Australia's richest natural environments with reef and rainforest in close proximity and fascinating Indigneous culture, mixed with goldrush and pioneer history. Moving down south we head into the Alps for more relaxed riding where mountain views are complemented by vineyards and fine produce at the end of each day. In a continent not known for it's mountains the high country of Victoria is a delightful exception. The Alpine towns and valleys and vineyards beckon as a cyclist's dream. For walkers the Great Ocean walk in Victoria is deservedly destined for iconic status as one of the country's must do walks and easily accessible to all. It traverses a real variety of breathtaking scenery replete with a rich history of shipwrecks and lighthouses, not to mention abundant wildlife. The Great Ocean walk never fails to impress our travellers and is in a completely new take on a familiar national landscape.
Our outback adventures include the famous Larapinta trail which traverses the rugged mountain spine of central Australia. We also take a peek at the famous neighbours of Uluru, King's Canyon and Kata Tjuta while we're there. New for 2010 we will also have a fantastic walk and exploration of Aboriginal culture in Kakadu, Arnhemland and a dreaming trail along Katherine Gorge - watch this space!
