Marko Soltys

Marko is the general manager of RAW Travel.

Born and bred in Melbourne, Marko began his career in the 1990s completing law and commerce studies and working in customer service, sales, marketing and business analysis for a huge multinational.

He left his successful corporate life at the age of 30 to become a tour leader in China, Russia, Mongolia and Central Asia. Years later, following stints working on sporting events and in the Country Fire Authority, Marko was based in China and India for 5 years as a general manager for the world’s largest adventure travel company.

Marko excels in leading and working effectively with others to help achieve organisational, team and individual goals, and provide exceptional client experiences. He strives to create engaging work environments and empower people to be their best. His passion for organisational and people development saw him return to university several years ago to complete a masters in human resource management program in Edinburgh.

Like his colleagues at RAW, Marko loves to travel in an active, adventurous and responsible way. For him it is the thrill of experiencing different cultures, seeing impressive environments, and meeting inspiring people. So far he has visited more than 50 countries, beginning with Canada as a teenager to attend a Ukrainian Scouts’ jamboree. He has also been a resident of 6 countries, most recently living in Poland for 4 years.

Marko’s travel highlights to date include trekking in the Himalayas, exploring the west coast of Scotland, completing the Great Wall of China marathon, swimming in icy Lake Baikal in Siberia, seeing wild bears in Yosemite National Park, and sleeping in a capsule hotel in Tokyo. For the next few years he is keen to introduce more of Australia to his Polish wife and explore the Red Centre.
