Adrián Coto

Adrián grew up in A Estrada, a Galician town through which three different routes of the Camino de Santiago pass: Caminho da Geira, Camino Miñoto Ribeiro and Camino Sanabrés. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Santiago de Compostela, and a Master’s in Business Management from the University of Porto (Portugal).

Adrián moved to Edinburgh (Scotland) to work in the hospitality industry and as a swimming teacher. The magnificence of the Scottish Highlands awakened his passion for travelling. He started to work as a tour guide throughout Scotland, then on the Camino de Santiago, and finally in Budapest (Hungary), where he settled for a while, enchanted by the goulash, the architectural splendour of the city and its turbulent 20th century history.

After relocating to France, Adrián received his French official tour guide accreditation and then worked in the “Ville Rose” of Toulouse, revealing the singularities of the Southern Gothic style and the mysterious Cathar doctrine. Once there, he was delighted by the rural landscapes of France, especially those surrounded by Armagnac vineyards in the Gers region along Le Puy Camino.

Now, he lives between the small village of Souto in his Galician home town of A Estrada, at the heart of the Caminho da Geira route to Compostela, and Madrid. He loves reading, hiking and all things indie music – listening, playing and concerts. His next big adventure will be the Arran Coastal Way in Scotland.
