Speeding along a windy road with the occasional nervous sideways glance isn't the only way of seeing the world's most spectacular coastline. If you were impressed by the Great Ocean Road, wait until you set both feet on the Great Ocean Walk with RAW!

Beginning at Apollo Bay, this stunning walk traverses through the rainforests of the Great Otway National Park to the majestic Twelve Apostles. On the way you'll see kangaroos, koalas and other wildlife, wild deserted beaches, waterfalls plunging gracefully to the Southern Ocean, a historical lighthouse and remains of several shipwrecks.

We have chosen what we consider the best sections of the Walk to showcase the wonderfully diverse scenery and habitats. We'll show you a walk of real contrasts from the secluded Parker Inlet to wild Station Beach and the magnificent sea cliffs at remote Milanesia. The walk progresses from 'mild' to 'wild' walking as we head further west towards The Twelve Apostles.

Expert Guides
On our first day we walk with a local shipwreck historian who was born at Cape Otway and has an excellent knowledge of the environment and both the human and natural history of this unique area. This sets the scene for the following day's walks which progressively become more spectacular and demanding as we head westwards. Along our route you'll find evidence of shipwrecks from the 1800's and Aboriginal middens dating back thousands of years.

The beauty of the Great Ocean Walk is that the scenery and habitats change each day so there is a real variety of experiences. At times you'll be walking through river estuaries, other times following a path through grass tree forests or a cliff top walk. There are several beach walks including the remote Milanesia Beach, where tides and times permit! We call in at the end of the trip to The Twelve Apostles before returning to Melbourne.

Accommodation & Food
Click here to see a short videoclip & example of the cabins we use*:

Our standard 3 day walk uses very comfortable private cabins in a great location. You'll enjoy excellent food so that your exercise is well rewarded. Evening meals are cooked to a high standard by our resident chef, Frank or Holly, and a full breakfast spread (both cooked and continental) is provided each day. Rest stops include hot and cold beverages, fresh fruit, snacks and sports supplements. We don't skimp on the quality of the food that we provide and realise the importance of plentiful, good nutrition when you're hiking and the only complaint we've ever had is that people put weight on because the meals are that good!

* Please note that depending on availability you may have a twin share cabin for two people or be sharing a larger 2 or 3 bedroom cabin with separate bedrooms.

Tailored walking
RAW's Great Ocean Walk is achievable by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. There are rest stops where the vehicle meets us and pull out points, so there is no pressure to walk the entire way - you only walk as much as you'd like to. You can walk extra distance should you wish to and you'll only need to carry a day pack.

Our guides and drivers are not only professional and knowledgeable but also place a high emphasis on guests' enjoyment and having fun during your walk. The Great Ocean Walk is an inspiring journey that immerses you in natural beauty, with a warm bed and great food at the end of each day.

We also have departures which cover all 104km of the Great Ocean Walk from Apollo Bay to The Twelve Apostles over 7 spectacular day's walking. See our End to End Great Ocean Walk page.

For comprehensive information on the Great Ocean Walk with detailed descriptions of the routes and sights, local attractions, flora and fauna & other information please visit: Great Ocean Walk Information website.

You will always be paired up with someone of the same sex on a twin share basis except In the event that we have odd numbers of sexes on a trip. If you prefer not to share, then just pay an exclusive occupancy fee of $180 to guarantee your own cabin. Most of our travellers join trips on their own seeking a social experience!

Testimonials

Pamela Sinclair - April 2014 - VIC
Pre stunning scenery, wonderful company, excellent accommodation, in historic light station and a super tour guide. This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour with an excellent tour leader, delightful accommodation, good food and a gorgeous walk along a spectacular coastline. The walk was well paced and it accommodated the different walking speeds amongst the group members very well. I will recommend the GOW4 tour to all of my friends without hesitation. Mitch was excellent in every way was the complete package as far as guiding walking groups goes as well as being well informed about local flora, fauna and geology.
Maeve Platt - April 2014 - NSW
Fabulous, so pleased I have done it. Jo, was wonderful, always cheerful and helpful. A wonderful group. Very comfy roomy accommodation. Loved the group dinning, and kitchen area. Fabulous meals and entertaining company. Loved the scenery of the trip. Very good to have the option to not do sections of the walk.
Sue - April 2014
The spectacular views approached from the bush/beach were wonderful. The isolation and lack of people made it feel like it all belonged for that moment to you.The food was exceptional and accommodation excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I found that even though I am a Victorian and had visited the coastline many times the perspective given by the expectation of walking to this spectacular destination was remarkable. Jo and Angela are a great team. They are highly efficient extremely well organised and lovely women. Jo kept the diverse group focused, happy and moving to achieve each day's goal. Her sense of humour and ability to engage with everyone whilst walking carrying a large pack showed great skill. Jo managed the varying abilities of the group through the difficult sections by allowing the group to walk to their own pace.
Brian and Teresa - WA
We have just returned home from the three day Great Ocean Walk and want the management of Raw Travel to know that we enjoyed every minute (or should I say step!) of the walk. Thanks to all at Raw who made the walk such a great experience.

In particular we must make special mention of Jo and Ange who must be the BEST guide and driver EVER. Their relaxed attitude, cooperation and care for walkers were exceptional and contributed greatly to the success of the walk. We will certainly recommend Raw (and especially the Jo & Ange team) to our friends.

Our recent trip with the Epworth Hospital along the Great Ocean Road Walk in conjunction with Raw travel was fabulous. Raw Travel could not have been more professional or caring and organised. We stayed in excellent accommodation with really good food and great company. We were picked up and delivered and met by bus through out our journey as well. I would highly recommend Raw Travel in the future. Thank you, Jenny and Jack Fellows. Deniliquin NSW

"Thank You RAW Travel for providing such an amazing and unique experience along the Great Ocean Walk. 3 days of beautiful scenery, local history, awesome food and great tour staff is something I will not forget for a while. Looking back at the photos from the trip makes me smile and remember all those wonderful moments, like walking along the deserted Johanna Beach, seeing the endangered Hooded Plovers, and experiencing a fairly remote and wild part of Australia."
Joanne Peterson - VIC

"You haven't experienced the Great Ocean Road until you've taken a walk on the wild side with Dave and the crew at RAW Travel. I will always remember this walk as one of the best walks I've done in Australia and look back with a smile remembering the sheer beauty viewed and laughs along the way. Do yourself a favour and take this off the beaten track Great Ocean Walk - you seriously won't regret it!"

"The Great Ocean Walk with Raw Travel is a fantastic experience, with excellent organisation, great food, good accommodation and amazing views. Most of the walk is easy to moderate, with pull-out points along the way making the walk achievable for almost anybody with even moderate fitness. It is well worth the effort".
Annalee Matthews - Melbourne
"The Great Ocean Walk blew my mind. The magical scenery would have done that alone, but then add in the seamless organisation, the onsite logistics and the enthralling personalities leading the troops and the whole experience becomes truly memorable and unique."
Angela Kelly - Sydney
"The accomodation and meals closely competed with the picture perfect scenery, not to mention reality of the Australian wildlife always at your side! Thank you again for an unforgettable trip!"

"The Great Ocean Walk was fantastic. One minute you're walking along the shores of raging beaches, then you're walking through the bush, then you're walking amid lush green hills. It is hard to believe Australia can be this diverse in the one place".
