Larapinta Trail & Uluru

Larapinta Trail & Uluru

Venture into the beautiful Red Centre of Australia on a desert trek that will show you outstanding natural scenery, following the Larapinta trail through the western McDonnell ranges. There is also the option to extend your trip and visit one of Australia's most iconic attractions, Uluru.

The Larapinta trail, although only a few years old is fast becoming one of the World's great walks, as it reveals the subtle beauties of this vast desert land. For an active walker this challenging route is a delight as you tackle the ridges and mountains of this ancient land.Incredibly expansive views over the surrounding desert descend to narrow canyons and dry river beds, marked by gum trees and bush. Revel in camping out under breathtaking night skies, painted white with stars each night. In the daytime look out for the resident wildlife and birds that make an Australian trek such a rewarding experience. For anyone who has wanted to experience the 'real outback Australia' of their imagination trekking the Larapinta trail will not fail to deliver.

After finishing walking the Larapinta we return to Alice Sprinsg for a last night celebration and hot showers! You have the option of extending your trip for 3 days and continuing to Uluru and spend time exploring around this extraordinary monolith and learning more about local Aboriginal culture. We've got more walking in store but of a gentler nature as we trek through the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta and the towering Kings Canyon. It's a superb way to end your trip and really absorb one of the most extraordinary desert environments on Earth. At the start and end of the trip we also have a chance to look around the galleries and cultural sights (as well as pubs) that make Alice Springs so unique.

This trip is a fully supported walk: your main pack will be transported to the next campsite, where you'll find your tent and a delicious meal awaiting you at the end of each day.Experience the solitude and peace of the great Australian desert. After a week you'll come back invigorated and with a fresh insight into this unique environment.

If you'd just like to do the first 6 days (5 on Larapinta walk) then the cost for this is $1710. The cost for the 3 day Red Centre extension to Uluru and King's canyon is $680, meaning a total trip price of $2390 for the Trek and extension.

"Hiking the Larapinta trail was an exhilarating experience that has opened my mind much more. We have so much to learn from our homeland...our Guides knowledge & passion of Aboriginal culture was a welcoming surprise for me. All along I had hoped to gain a lot more insight to local culture, but never expected that wish to be fulfilled."

"We couldn't have wished for better organization. The mornings were very cold for us Queenslanders. Clear skies meant 5 million star accommodation and warm sunny days.
Mt Sonder was exhilarating, 2am rise and coffee and uphill to a spectacular sunrise over the MacDonnells. It doesn't get any better...or does it...where are you taking us next?"
