Tashi Chotak Lonchey

Tashi Chotak Lonchey
Tashi is our man in Ladakh and you couldn't hope for a better host and guide to this extraordinary Himalayan outpost. Tashi has led trips for us in Ladakh since 2000 and has won a firm place in the affections of all our groups to the region.

Tashi was born in a small village Phyang, near the capital Leh in the Indus valley. Phyang is famous in the region for it's colourful monastic festival and our groups use Tashi's guesthouse as a base to explore this delightful valley.

Tashi's knowledge of Ladakhi society and its culture is unsurpassed and during his studies (geography, history, economics), he started to work as a guide for local and international travel companies. Outside the tourist season, he is actively involved in local politics and social activities and can be found growing crops, vegetables and fruits in his own garden or on the nearby fields of his village. He is married his Wife Christina, a Swiss national in 2005 and spends part of the year in Europe amongst another Mountain people!
