Jeff Barnard
Jeff Barnard started a nomadic lifestyle early, becoming a member of several expeditions exploring Central Australia's desert regions in his early twenties. He soon started his own trekking company taking groups on foot or exploring by horse and camel into wild untouched areas of Australia throughout the '80s.
After selling his safari company Jeff headed off to explore the world and soon fell in love with Africa, staying for most of the nineties leading overland groups on expeditions from 8 days in the Serengeti to 6 month Trans Africa epics which took him to all parts of the continent. Whether crossing the Saharan dune fields, pushing through bogs in the Congolese jungles, following Mountain Gorillas into the wilderness or climbing to the top of Kilimanjaro Jeff loved it all.
In 1999 an offer of leading groups in China took Jeff into his new passion, Asia. The last decade has seen Jeff working throughout China, Mongolia, Russia and Central Asia, India and Nepal, South East Asia and the Middle East as a group leader and as operations manager for Intrepid Travel. Recently based back in Australia, Jeff has been working for RAW Travel and on several tourism related projects as well as trekking in Victoria and Tasmania, though still getting away to annoy old friends in his old haunts as well as discovering new destinations in South America.
